Brewery Ommegang was founded in 1997 by Don Feinberg. The
brewery is located just south of Cooperstown on a 136 acre farm. In 2003 Duvel Moortgat bought
the brewery from Feinberg. On January 9th, 2008, Ommegang announced that Randy Thiel, who has been the
brewmaster at Ommegang since 1997, would be leaving to become the Director of Quality Control at New Glarus Brewing Company
in Wisconsin. Ommegang announced that Phil Leinhart would become the new brewmaster while retaining his title of Director
of Production.
Brewery Ommegang opened
Café Ommegang in May 2011.
